Brian Pessaro has been a senior research associate at the Center for Urban Transportation Research since 2009. His areas of research include bus rapid transit, vehicle assist and automation technology in transit, and transit performance monitoring. He is currently working on a research study for the Florida Department of Transportation that is specifically looking at the causes of pedestrian crashes near bus stops in Broward and Palm Beach Counties. The study involves mapping crash locations in GIS using data from the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles, reviewing the narratives from crash reports, and conducting roadway safety audits of the most problematic bus stops.
