Minhua Wang

GIS Enterprise Architect

Minhua Wang currently serves as Enterprise GIS Architect at the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority and has overall responsibility for all WMATA GIS enterprise architectures. Dr. Whang ensures that GIS is deployed enterprise-wide in conformance with the overall WMATA IT architecture, provides executive advice and counsel on emerging GIS technologies and state-of-the-art best GIS practices, and designs and develops the GIS-based metro rail safety information integration framework. Prior to his current position, he served as group leader and Sr. software engineer at Citilabs, Inc., a transportation planning software company. Before Citilabs, he served as Director of Application Development and Technical Architect at Geodecisions, Inc., an IT/Geospatial consulting company. Dr. Wang received his Ph.D. in GIS from the University of Waterloo, Canada, Master of Science in Remote Sensing from Peking University, China, and Bachelor of Science in Geography from Peking University, China. Dr. Wang has over 20 years of experience in the IT/GIS industry, with a strong emphasis in system architecture, system integration, and application development for transportation and transit agencies.
