Dr. Sean J. Barbeau (barbeau@cutr.usf.edu) is the Principal Mobile Software Architect for R&D at the Center for Urban Transportation Research at the University of South Florida. Dr. Barbeau has served as the PI for many projects researching and developing apps for mobile phones, including the Travel Assistance Device (TAD) to help transit riders with intellectual disabilities use public transportation and the OneBusAway Multi-region Project, which extended the OneBusAway open-source mobile transit apps to many new cities. He has over 40 peer-reviewed papers and conference presentations and 16 patented inventions in the area of location-aware technology and has been heavily involved in open data initiatives, including the evolution of the General Transit Feed Specification (GTFS) and GTFS-realtime data formats. He holds a B.S. and M.S. in Computer Science from USF as well as a Ph.D. in Computer Science and Engineering from USF.
